February Will Fly
The top photo shows a wooden case that was made during the California Gold Rush to hold the movable type of the printing presses used at that time. The upper part of the case held the capital letters, and the lower part of the case held the smaller letters. That is where the terms upper case and lower case letters came from. Wow!
February will fly, why? There is so much packed into this month: President's Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Rodeo, Book Fair, Science Fair, Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Variety Show, Celebrate Excellence, Hawk Walk, Career Day, Science projects due, Book Jackets due, All About Me due, Valentine's Day, and Parent Conferences - all this in twenty-eight days!!!
