Teach For America by Bill Floore

Teachers become teachers for a lot of reasons. Some like the content. They love mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, physical education, art, or music. They want to share their passion for their favorite subject. Some, many, go into teaching to make a difference in the students' lives. A good teacher can have a profound influence on a child's life. They like nurturing and being kind. Some go into teaching because they like the process of teaching and managing the classroom. They like Smart Boards and writing tests and using data to improve test scores. Some like the environment of the classroom. They have fond memories of their childhood and their school days. They hang up curtains and have pictures of the students all over their walls. They like to put on plays and see the children experience success. Some ring bells when a student get a 100% on a reading test; some dance on desks when a student earns a reading trophy. Some teachers spend thousands of their own dollars to purchase classroom sets of novels like Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh for their students to read. Some like being part of a staff and running a school. Some like parents and grandparents in their classrooms visiting and helping out. Some like committees and meetings and goal setting. Some teachers like all of it. Those are the teachers who stick it out even though the pay isn't the best; the gratitude and thanks rarely come; and working conditions aren't always the best. Teachers are wonderful and Copper Creek has some of the very best!!!
