My Memories of 911 - An American Teacher Remembers

I remember that day. I was driving to Coronado listening to Mike and Mike. They mentioned that a small plane just hit the World Trade Center. Later they said a second plane hit the buildings. This was no accident. I got to school and put on the television. School hadn't started yet. A couple of seventh grade students came in the class and we watched the coverage together. We saw the building crumble. Hours later we didn't have enough AWACS, early warning patrol planes, to patrol our skies. We had to borrow them from NATO. Chinese visitors in an airport near Washington were cheering. Later we learned who caused this tragedy and for a few days the country was united. Then the Democrats started working against everything our president was trying to do. A student of mine brought newspaper pictures of people jumping out of the windows and she thought it was very funny.
