More Than State Standards - Memories and Good Times and Thursday

What makes a great class is having excellent students (we do), and supportive parents (we do), and a supportive principal like Mrs. Walker (we do). It all goes together to make an outstanding year of growth and learning. Thanks to all the parents for all they do: parties; donations like our student store; grading like math, spelling, reading, science, edit quizzes, and timed math; moms contacting each other; and moms taking pictures for our yearbook and DVD, moms during picture day and field day; and moms helping in art. And dads help too. And parents investing the time to help with the homework. And reading all these blogs.

The big THANK YOU goes to all of you who planned and carried out this event. Erika could not stop talking about how much fun she had yesterday. Tammy.

The FALL FESTIVAL rocked! I liked how the room looked. I also liked the masked.I thought the slide was awesome! The best games were the donut game and the balloon race. The best prizes were at the pumpkin face bean bag game. Sam W.

I have to agree! Thank you so much you wonderful party moms who took this on! The kids had a great time, the room was scary, the masks amazingly cool and the carmel corn (my personal favorite) was to die for! Thanks again!!!

That was crazy GREAT!!! Thank you! Thank you parents; Thank you kids; Thank you Mr. Floore!!! Was that not the perfect coming together of talents, enthusiasm, fun, creativity, laughter, craziness, improvisation you have seen??!!! All I can say is that I have never enjoyed a class party more! These kids and this class rise us up to a new level. I shared with a parent this afternoon what a privilege it was to watch and value each talent that everyone offered. What a special moment in our children's lives! Again, I have watched my son be challenged to the brink of melt down yet, rise up and persevere. When the many challenges of Middle School present themselves, I know that my child will be able to manage the social and self awareness difficulties without the stress of how to achieve academically--He will be ahead!! I am completely grateful and completely exhausted. Good night. Monica

  1. I tried to go to bed without a comment. What was I thinking? Let's see, so many things to remark on--excuses for poor test grades such as exhaution from a party (not sure if I am speaking for my kid or myself). No enabling--the book is due, homework needs to get done, work on those projects, or lions and tigers and bears, oh my!! I'm going to focus on the tears that turned into laughter when that math was finally solved or, "I only have ten more pages" when it was so often the whole book. How about remarks like, "This project is fun" when they used to be "stupid". I'm going to bed now--now that my psyche has been restored. Maybe I'll dream that there is no place like home and in my case, there isn't.--MS
