Thursday - Happy Anniversary Jay and Monica

  • an early blog due to teacher meetings: we had a mandatory meeting after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and today
  • today in math: 4th p. 206 (1-25), p. 207 (1-8), and p. 180 (1-22); 5th p. 252 (1-25), pp. 262-263 (1-24), and p. 253 (26-49); 6th p. 219 (1-8), p. 221 (1-8), and p. 222 (1-32)
  • grammar tomorrow pp. 31, 32, 33
  • next week we have our Fall Festival party (Wednesday) and Field Day (Friday)
  • parents have ordered rockets with engines for our class
  • the new computer system the district purchased did not keep track of absences or tardies so they won't be on the report cards
  • speaking of report cards, this is the very beginning of fourth graders as fourth graders; the report cards show how they are starting, not finishing. As the students improve the amount of energy they allocate for work each day, and they improve their cursive skills, and their knowledge of math facts increase, and they become better organized and get their homework completed, and they become better readers, and their math work habits improve, and they learn to type with ten fingers, and they become more accomplished writers - after all that, which is the journey we are on - you will be so glad and your child will be well prepared for middle school. A "little" improvement each day, each week, will lead to unbelievable results after two years. I can get impatient at times just like a parent and feel the same emotions you do and I have to step back and let it all unfold. Minor issues we are working on: not putting their name on their paper and not answering every question on a test. Major issue: name calling, being mean to each other, and not caring about the other person's feelings.
