- eight students improved their grade point average in the 2nd quarter
- four students earned a 4.0 and had an A in every subject
- eleven students earned a 3.5 or better
- grades are an indication of how much a student has learned in a content area and how much they have learned about being a student and improving their work habits
- fifteen students had no missing homework assignments this quarter
- eight students earned an A in math
- four students did not earn 7 AR points and they failed the nonfiction project; one student earned over 22 points on this project; fourteen students earned an A+ by getting 10 or more points
- fifteen students have earned their Honors Reader trophy
- WARNING: there is only 13 academic weeks of school left before we determine which fifth graders will be going to pre-algebra; fifth graders with B's need to buckle down
- this is a very important academic quarter
- we will start working on Monday on our two plays
- in this third quarter: we are required to take the MAP reading and math tests next week; we are off for Martin Luther King's birthday (January 18); we have reserved a camp site at Catalina State Park for February 19 for those interested; we are off for Rodeo Days (February 25-26); we take our field trip to Phoenix; and we have Celebrate Excellence where we will display our Grant Post Cards, Book Jackets, and ABC books
- On Monday we will start the fifth grade social studies book
