- "Those Were The Days" by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse
- Boy, the way Glen Miller played.
- Songs that made the hit parade.
- Guys like us, we had it made.
- Those were the days.
- Didn't need no welfare state.
- Everybody pulled his weight.
- Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.
- Those were the days.
- And you know who you were then,
- girls were girls and men were men.
- Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
- People seemed to be content.
- Fifty dollars paid the rent.
- Freaks were in a circus tent.
- Those were the days.
- Take a little Sunday spin,
- go to watch the Dodgers win.
- Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.
- Hair was short and skirts were long.
- Kate Smith really sold a song.
- I don't know just what went wrong.
- Those Were The Days
- Those were the days we thought would never end. They are and they will. Our days in the MAI class are almost over. The MAI class is almost over. Forever. There won't be an MAI class for former students to come and visit. There won't be fifth graders mentoring fourth graders. There won't be third graders coming up to take fourth grade math. We will never again have a brother and sister in different grades in the same class. Never again will a fourth grader dance with a fifth grader at a Candlelight Dinner. We will no longer have the MAI experience. Long after our current students move on they will still be talking about the MAI class. And you will wonder why. What was the big deal? What was so special? It was special for reasons only a very few know and understand. What is important is that some got the chance to experience the freedom to be themselves.
