School Is Almost Back

It is that time of year parents and their kids are out buying clothes for school and school supplies. That is always exciting for most kids.

Not much to report about this year so far. I have my class list, but I know it is only partially correct. It lists students who I believe are going to Basis. And the list was made before summer enrollment started. New students to Copper Creek will be added.

They haven't ordered any classroom materials because of the budget. I'm trying to at least get the vocabulary books. I am teaching just fifth grade and we change classes for math and language arts. I have the low math group and the high language arts group.

Shannon Brandon is back to teach music. The kids love her.

We will have a new report card; letter grades will be replaced with numbers from one to four that are supposed to address meeting state standards. Hopefully TEMS, the attendance system, has been fixed.

My students should not buy the supplies on the fifth grade supply list. I will give out a new list but the things I know we need are facial tissue, a planner, lined paper, and a ream of Xerox paper, a trapper, and a pencil box.
