My Best School Experience So Far Was...Clare Was Here!!!!!

Yesterday's conferences were excellent: poignant dialogue; cogent remarks; we clearly identified ways we can help each student work on their areas of weakness that they need to improve upon to be successful in middle school. Let's hope the rest of the conferences are as positive.

My best experience related to school would have to be my first grade play How the Grinch Stole Christmas. My reasons are because it was my very first big play. Another is because who would try to do such a hard play with first graders, certainly not an ordinary teacher. Lastly is because we had put our hearts, souls and all of our energy into this play. Ever since we had found out we were doing this play our classroom became even more well behaved then we were before.

One of the reasons why is because it was my very first big play. It was amazing being able to watch the movie and audition for the parts we wanted. So, after we had chosen all of the parts for the play we went straight to the rehearsing. When everything was absolutely perfect, we picked a day for the play and dress rehearsal which we put on for our buddy class. Everything went perfect on the dress rehearsal and the next day we were to put it on for our parents. When it was my solo part for Cindy Lou Who I said my lines then when it was time for me to bring out the roast beef. I went off of the risers, grabbed the roast beef and instead of placing it nicely on the center of the floor I threw it out and all of the parents started laughing and the next thing you knew Mrs. Pruzin was yelling “Genna!” After that when everything calmed down the rest of play went perfect. After the play we had punch and cookies.

One other reason why our play was amazing is because who would try to do such a hard play with first graders and have them try to memorize all of our lines and we memorized all of our lines and we memorized them all. We pulled it off after a few months of rehearsing, preparation and costume making. All of this work was a lot of stress for Mrs. Pruzin and our parents.

One other reason why this was an amazing play was because we gave it everything we had we wouldn’t rest until we had it down, completely memorized. I don’t think I know anybody that has seen or heard of such dedicated first graders. We didn’t do it on our own. We had a lot of encouragement from Mrs. Pruzin. She helped us through it when we got frustrated. Although some parents might of thought that we weren’t getting anything done besides the play, they were dead wrong, she made sure we were balanced in our work and in our play. I remember how much tension was in the room about a week before the play. Mrs. Pruzin is one of the best teachers I’ve ever met and she is one of the most memorable people I’ll ever meet. How the Grinch Stole Christmas will always remind me of what great accomplishment she helped my class and I meet. Even though I threw the roast beef it was one good time and a great experience.

Now you have read all of the reasons why that play was one of the best experiences related to school I’ve ever had. I had proof of why it was an amazing play and some of what the play was like. Mrs. Pruzin could have gotten mad at me but she didn’t and I am very lucky for that. One more small little fact, I used to call the roast beef the, “roasted beefs”. How the Grinch Stole Christmas was amazing!

I will have a fun time telling about my favorite memory in school. Man! I’ve had quite a few good memories in school. It will be hard to decide but, I will have to go with third grade in Mrs. Latin’s class. When I was in Mrs. Latin’s class I experienced her silliness. She would always try to make everything fun. You would never guess what Mrs. Latin did for my birthday. She took me to Keva Juice and then I went to her house and I swam there with my sister. Also, Mrs. Latin took us on lots and lots of field trips. Mrs. Latin’s class was my best memory in school.

No matter how boring something was she would always make it fun. Like this explorer report we did. She had us dress up to look like our explorers. It was so fun! Mrs. Latin would always try her hardest to make the dullest of all reports come out of the shadows and shine. I had the experience of a lifetime doing all the reports from biographies to explorers. They were all fun. Not a single boring report in the whole school year.

On my birthday she took me, my sister and her daughter to Keva Juice. She went to the Starbucks next door. After she got her coffee we sat outside Keva Juice and joked around and talked for a while. Then, Molly (Mrs. Latin’s daughter) needed school supplies so we stopped by Office Max and then we went to Target. It really didn’t matter that we stopped because I used it as a form of window shopping. After that we went to her house. At her house we had pizza, ice cream and then we went swimming at her house. After my sister, Molly and I had an awesome time swimming we went and played Rock Band. I’m not ashamed to say I was the singer for most all our songs. My mom finally came and picked me and my sister up from the most spectacular birthday experience.

In Mrs. Latin’s class we went on at least seven field trips. Even that’s too many for me to name. But undoubtedly, Kartchner Caverns was the best of them all. We studied for a long while before the field trip and then when we went we were all prepared. We knew what a stalagmite was and what a stalactite was and of course we learned the difference between them was. We learned what straws were and how they were formed. We learned much much more too. During the tour a drop of water hit my head. I told the tour guide and he told me it was called a cave kiss and it was considered good luck. After that I felt special for the rest of the day. At the end of the tour we made our way to the back of the cave and we saw the longest straw. We also got to see the tracks of the people who discovered Kartchner Caverns. At the end of the field trip we went to the gift shop and all got souvenirs. I had an awesome time at Kartchner Caverns.

That was my favorite memory in school hands down. Those are all my reasons for why Mrs. Latin’s class was the best memory in school for me.
