Learning To Learn

That's what it all about. Learning to become a serious student. Learning to be organized. Learning to not lose materials and learning to turn in assignments on time. Learning not to procrastinate. Learning to study and learning good work habits. Learning test taking skills and problem solving strategies. Learning better listening skills and how to summarize material in your own words. Learning how to write readable cursive effectively. Learning to type with ten fingers sixty to a hundred words a minute. Learning math so you are in an advanced math class. Learning to develop above grade level reading comprehension for fiction, nonfiction, and informational text. Learning to advocate for yourself and to ask questions. Learning how to pick friends that make you a better person. Learning to care about what is being learned and the quality of your completed work. Learning to have high expectations for yourself. Most of these are NOT state standards. Most have been accomplished by the majority of previous students. You can do it, the choice is yours.

This week we have only 6 hours of

language arts; next week we have only 2 hours of language arts. Due to this reduction in instructional time, we will not have an edit sentence or journal write today. Today we handed out our Book Jacket Project.
