A proud born-and-raised Tucsonan, Wagner attended Copper Creek Elementary School and Wilson K-8 School before becoming a Nighthawk. She will soon attend Mercer University in Macon, Georgia to study neuroscience. While at Mercer she plans to enroll in Mercer on Mission, which gives students an opportunity to provide vital services to populations in Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and elsewhere. In the future she hopes to work with Doctors Without Borders.
Wagner will leave IRHS as captain of the school’s pom line and as a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club International and HOSA-Future Health Professionals (formerly Health Occupations Students of America). Outside of academics, Wagner said she also volunteers in the emergency room at Northwest Medical Center. Despite her diverse extracurricular activities, Wagner admitted that pom line is “her thing.”
Though she is proud to graduate first in her class, Wagner said she was surprised when, several weeks ago, IRHS principal Natalie Burnett called her and salutatorian Meghan Crowther into the office to congratulate them on their accomplishments.
