Michigan Fishing 2015 Notes

These lures plus my Storm gold thunderstick were my best lures.

  • turning in my change helped finance the trip
  • the year of my beard
  • gym bag was better and lighter than suitcase with wheels and handle
  • don't bring book, never read a page
  • didn't need swivels, Adam thought he caught more with a direct tie, my finger nails get broken opening swivels
  • we never found a pattern; lures that worked at the beginning of the week didn't work during the last two days; a front slowed fishing on Wednesday; walleyes were biting during windy day and stopped once the wind stopped
  • good lures in small case in side pocket of fishing bag
  • go smaller and shallower
  • rain gear was perfect
  • waterproof shoes were great
  • need lures for shallow and medium depth
  • Tommy had good luck with the shadow rap and husky jerk
  • we should use Rapala floaters more
  • my 19 inch bass is NOT on my camera; I hope Tommy has one on his; maybe it was 21 inches
  • need toothpaste
  • need four insect spray tubes, apply in cabin especially around the ankles
  • set up blue tackle bag with four lure cases with a sample of lures, shallow, medium and deep, 2 frogs, two buzz baits, 2 tail dancers, 2 shad raps, two gold thundersticks, 2 square bills, 2 Mepps #4, 2 Lucky Craft blade cross small lures in red and silver, 2 lipless lures, 2 bleeding hot olive floaters, 2 spin gliders, 2 bull minnows, 2 shadow raps, 2 Storm thundersticks
  • no more hats needed, no more tee shirts, no more pants
  • need two more spinning rods and reels
  • need hand towel
  • need mono line on baitcasters, 10lbs
  • baitcaster rods are telescoping. Not good. Need super glue.
  • need sharp pointed scissors to get braided line off the baitcasters
  • 8# line was very good
  • none of the three of us took many pictures
  • no sunsets
  • we all took movies
  • we have two new Frabil nets with floaters
  • we have a device to accurately weigh the fish
  • cast off pier, caught one fish first day, Tommy caught two
  • boutique in Eagle River was good for souvenirs
  • need red potatoes
  • bowel movements good
  • get to bed earlier I'm too old not to get 8 hours sleep
  • back hurt - that is to be expected
  • sponges were dirty
  • need 3 pairs of sunglasses with magnifier from Bass Pro Shop
  • didn't get rock, suggest getting rock from Morley
  • meals: doughnut, later bacon and eggs, no lunch, supper and few snacks - didn't come home bloated
  • cheesy potatoes were better the next day
  • Adam wasn't pleased with the upkeep of the golf course and it had annoying flies.
  • it would be nice to have plain hash browns for breakfast
  • got two pair of shoes from Sports Authority
  • snatch mates tee shirts was the topic de jure
  • loved Moni's text messages, want more phone calls
  • not having to shave was nice
  • set up seat to cast from back platform
  • keep covers on lures
  • no men's magazine; left on Adam's kitchen table
  • Adam's secret is out; the mostaccioli has a layer of American cheese in the middle which you never see
  • we fished almost all the lakes, went to Octagon House, went to Little Africa and Record Lake, went to Weed Bay and Northern Bay
  • fished Morley for first time
  • musky were semi-active in Morley and Big
  • need more scenic pictures
  • large TV was great
  • need heat downstairs
  • every year we identify defecation point and the places Tommy dumped
  • Wilderness Bay reported walleyes and musky were being caught
  • couldn't fish last day due to incessant rain
  • get our own subs
  • visiting Mary, having dinner (not buffet) and fixing toilet seat was good
  • Tommy said he would measure Mary for a bike
  • keep only big net in back of boat
  • fish liked red this year
  • Portillo's hot dog, fries and tamale were great
  • good McDonald's breakfast in Antioch on way to airport was great
  • loved direct flight
  • might need new ID for airport
  • suggest BLT's for supper
  • We watched the Blackhawks lose and win on their way to advancing to the Stanley cup which they won!
  • red chair blew in water twice - no one admitted taking it and putting it on the pier
  • excellent lunch at Culver's ( fish sandwich, fries and root beer)
  • daredevil in red and white was working

  • dinged prop in middle of channel
  • didn't need green grapes
  • didn't smoke cigars, save for next year
  • contour wasn't working
  • difficult getting the boat out of the water. Wind and waves wouldn't let the boat line up to be cranked up on the cradle. I had to walk up to my ankles in the water to crank and Tommy had to walk out on the trailer to push the boat to line up correctly.
  • Tommy loaded Belling for me, listen to him a lot
  • trailer tires were low when we got back to Casa Floore.
  • got back from Chicago and was greeted by Moni and Lorenzo. We went out for Mexican.
