Dear Sister,

John arrived this afternoon and I received your letter of the
17th ----, and one from Aunt Dib dated the 18th. I was much suprised to hear
mother was so low ----- and I have a letter from Uncle William a few days ago
saying she is so much better and the doctor considered her not of danger which
was the last I have heard until John came. I have not received your letter which
you wrote last Tuesday I have beed expecting one a long time and thought it
strange you did not write I hope I will be able to get a leave of absence for a
few days I am glad to hear she is much better and pray that mother may have
a change for the bettewr with much love I remain your affectionate brother.

Elbert
