Access Hollywood - Lights, Camera, Action - Take Twenty-three

A TV film crew from Buena Vista Studios, a branch of Disney, sets up on Mariposa Street. This is a typical street in Burbank. The locals must be used to having their streets blocked off for filming; many local jobs depend on this kind of cooperation.

Mariposa Street was only needed by the studio for one day. We were not able to work our schedule so that we could see the actual filming.

The house that was used for an episode of Criminal Minds. The crew was removing their equipment when we went by.

A display case in the Gene Autry Museum. I grew up watching Gene Autry, the singing cowboy.

People told Clint Eastwood that he would never make it in the movies. Right! The sign was the sign hung on Morgan Freeman in the movie The Unforgiven.

Let me out! Monica was a good sport to walk around carrying Jiminy Cricket and posing for pictures like this one.

A view of the outdoor mall adjacent to the Kodak Theater.

This is Grauman's Chinese Theater where celebrities are invited to make their hand and footprints in concrete. Today Jennifer Aniston just finished adding hers.

The Kodak Theatre where the Academy Awards are presented each year.

I like to look at the buses in old production like The Streets of San Francisco. They have the green and yellow buses I rode as a kid in Chicago. These buses were made to emit less harmful gases.

Olvera Street is teaming with tourists and small vendors selling their goods from Mexico. This shopping market is intended to resemble a street in Mexico.

The movie West Side Story has started. The screen actually was large enough for all of to enjoy the film. We were sitting in the nosebleed seats. During the movie the LA Philharmonic played the music and the acoustics were amazing.

We took a long walk every morning. You have to hustle to keep up with Pat and he doesn't like you to cross at a red light. We did most of the time.

Crossing the street near the Disney Studios. Disney bought the houses behind the studio so that they could avoid complaints about their filming at night. They use the houses for visitors.

Karen and Patrick have been married for fifty years; they just returned from Budapest, Hungary where they redid their marriage vows. Their daughter Shannon is a nun in the church where the ceremony took place.
