Musso and Frank Grill, Hollywood, California

A view of Hollywood Boulevard.

The parking lot behind the grill.

The Musso and Frank Grill has been open since 1919. In that time it has served hundreds and hundreds of celebrities. This is the back entrance.

This old Musso Frank sign can still be scene from the boulevard.

The facade has been modernized, but still retains some of it old charm. You can see the names of stars along the streets.

Gene Autry's star.

An old cash register is still in service.

These are the same panel walls. If these wooden walls could talk, think of the conversations it heard over the years. People who dined at this famous restaurant include: Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, Gary Cooper, Greta Garbo, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Orson Wells and Jimmy Stewart, Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. Film producers and directors who ate here include Cecil B. DeMille and the Warner brothers. Writers who frequented here include William Faulkner, Aldous Huxley, Ernest Hemingway, T.S. Eliot, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Movies were filmed at some of these booths.

The grill is the oldest restaurant in Hollywood.

Our waiter Michael was very attentive and very proud of his job. After lunch he gave us a tour.

A lot of the local regulars like to sit at the counter. We saw some while we were eating.

The old grill.

You can feel the memories of this establishment.

Monica's parents treated us. They planned a great week for us; everyday we had interesting places to visit.

Monica and I had the French dip. Karen had pouched eggs with cheese. Pat has a salad with real imported Roquefort dressing.

Our waiter was very proud of these old telephone booths. If the people back in 1919 saw us today, with our cells phone, they would really think we live in the space age.
