Finally, a "Normal" Week
As a teacher, it is hard not to look at subtractions in academic time; a holiday, parent conferences, the Peace Conference, and Picture day. This year I don't have the flexibility I had when I had a self-contained class. When I did, I could make adjustments to make sure math and language arts each enjoyed the essential time they both require to ensure students are ready for middle school. Constant changes in the schedule make the students anxious. They need a regular routine to make them feel comfortable and secure. So it is nice to have a normal week and to try and reestablish our regular routine.
However, this quarter will go fast. Coming up we have: Veterans Day; the Turkey Contest Calling assembly; Field Day; Thanksgiving week (3 days); music assembly; vision and hearing screening; and the week before Winter Break (4 days).
