The Best and the Brightest - the University of Arizona in Tucson

A sculpture of bobcats playing. On another part of the campus is a sculpture of a bobcat family.

That octopus bag is handy for carrying books.

A view of Old Main. Old is right. I was in the Caesar Chavez building and I saw a picture of Old Main taken in 1891. It was in an area of small adobe brick buildings and what was the previous "Old Main." The university was established in 1895.

Our native plant was here before all of us. These, however, were probably planted.

Attractive landscaping adds to the charm of this campus.

I ran into James in the food court. I know James and I am acquainted with his mom and dad, Jim and Lisa, and his sister Morgan. James is one of the 7,000 freshman on campus. He graduated from CDO having taken mostly AP classes. He is one of the best and the brightest. He had the opportunity to go to schools like Harvey Mudd on an athletic scholarship, but he chose the U of A so he could stay close to his dad. His dad was gone for a number of months serving in the army as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

The bikes on campus make me nervous. They do not slow down at all as they weave their way trough the crowded walkways and the come up behind you before you know they are there.

These skateboarders are not skateboarding for fun. This is their form of transportation and they have amazing skill using them. One student had his carpeted.
