- I'll add to this blog as the day goes on
- I'm not fishing, but I just wonder if the blog should be once a week like a newsletter, or no teacher blog at all and replace it with an email newsletter; I'm talking about effective communications; we have few parents who check our blog each day and important information is being missed
- it has become evident that most students today, this class and others, have poor listening skills. That is why direct instruction is so ineffective. But still, we do need to improve this important skill. That is why we are measuring how the students are effectively listening during Read Aloud and I only have used adults to read to the class. I am also trying to improve listening skills and note taking by reviewing what will be on the social studies test. I encourage the students to go over their notes with another student. The questions that the students are going to have the most difficulty with are the inference questions, and the essay questions that ask the students to draw conclusions or compare and contrast. I am hoping this will improve their study guides, reduce anxiety, give them a better chance of getting a good grade, and giving them another opportunity to improve their listening skills.
- math today: 4th p. 382 (1-25) and p. 183 (1-8); 5th pp. 446-449 (1-40); 6th p. 383 (1-33) and pp. 394 - 396 (1-19)
- tomorrow: edit sheets and quiz, grammar 49, 50, & 51
- Clare was here!
Love your input. Will listen to requests or ideas for future blogs. Have a safe day. Would love to hear from former students or their great parents. God bless the United States of America.
