On Tuesday we will start holding the students accountable for all assignments due in math, social studies, language arts, and science. Check the blog listings against the planner to make sure all assignments and due dates recorded.
In math I have been told by students and I saw it yesterday, students who were just copying answers of the math problems out of the answer book. They are not trying to learn. They don't ask questions. Their parents ought to be aware that they are capable of learning, but they have not learned to be a students and they are not motivated to do the everyday work required. In middle school they will be in the lowest math class, in with a group of students who do not come to school to learn. Sad. It's sad and preventable. Days and weeks are being wasted.

Journal write 9/3:
What college or university are you thinking of attending? What do you think you will have to do to get accepted there? What skills do you need to follow the career path you have in mind?
Today we sent home the first language arts grade report. Don't panic. Most have a missing assignment or a low grade. The students are learning organization and accountability. Language arts will get them ready to be highly successful middle school students if you and your child don't give up. Embrace the high standards and high expectations. By Christmas the class will be smooth sailing. It's already smooth sailing for some of the students. :):):) Each week look for improvement; will all the assignments be turned in on time? will quizzes and test scores improve? will journal writes and handwriting grades improve? This report needs to be looked over, signed, and returned on Wednesday. Thanks.

Today we had a Spirit Assembly. Mrs. Walker introduced Hawk Walk, Ben's Bells, and the Peace Conference that will be held at Copper Creek.
Some parents are so busy they can't check the blog every day. They work or have other children. That is understandable. But if the would check the five blogs one day a week they will have a clear picture of what is happening and what is expected. The only way most students can be successful is if there is a partnership between the administration, the teacher, the student, and the parent. Parents play a key role in their child's education.
